March 2012 Workshops

Each year I get so busy with weddings during spring and summer, then when fall comes around, I get busy with children and family photo sessions.  There is another part of photography that I truly enjoy but don’t have enough time to for, it is teaching.

Clients and previous students always ask about my next workshops.  Now I finally have time to dedicate two Sundays in March to do this.

My workshop series is broken up into two parts.  Part One and Part Two.

Part One:

From camera functions to fundamental of photography,  I take you through the jungle of features in today’s advanced DSLR and navigate through what’s important and what’s not.  We will also spend a small portion of the day practicing what I taught in my studio.  We’ll end the workshop by going through a fun session of critique!  At the end of the workshop, you will have a good understanding of what your camera can and cannot do and how to take better pictures for your friends and family.

Part Two:

This is an all day hands-on workshop.  We will spend most of the day in the field practicing scenarios that I put together for you.  You will be teamed up with members of the workshop to complete these assignments.  Also, I will talk about the different styles of photography and how to achieve them.  I will take you through the “what goes inside my head when I compose and take a photo” process.  At the very end, I will introduce you to a few tricks in Photoshop/Lightroom which will help you with your post-process workflow.

Little Aden, Esan and Layla

So nice to see this family back this year!

Connecting with Industry friends

We are usually very busy over summer due to weddings so the only time we get to reach out and reconnect with our industry friends is during the winter. Today, I did just that. I started my day with touring one of my buddies Tom with Thomas John Events. Looking at his brand new custom kitchen made me smile. He has done so well for himself and his team. I’ve known Tom and Melissa for a while and I even shot their engagement session a while back. It’s so rewarding to witness your friend’s success in this field.

Then in the evening, I got together with Maria Chang and Nicole Ha for drinks and dinner. We even stopped by a last minute networking events and met many great new vendors in the industry. I am just so grateful to have friends like Tom, Maria and Nicole who support me and my business.

Deena and Mehdi | The Fairmont, San Francisco, Calif

Deena was introduced to me by the wonderful Alicia from Alicia K Designs.  Deena and Mehdi were working closely with Alicia from Washington DC to plan this big and elaborate wedding here in the San Francisco.   The moment I was on the phone with Deena, we had an instant connection.  I had a great feeling walking out of the phone call that she would book me for her big day here in San Francisco Fairmont hotel … and she did!

Deena and Mehdi are both very successful individuals in our government office.  Let’s say Mehdi gets to see President Obama walk in and out of his office on a daily basis if he wants to:)

Since I was in DC one week for another work engagement, I stopped by a cafe near the White House to meet these two.  We gave each other big hugs and jumped right into the details of their wedding.  I have to say, I couldn’t be more excited to see Deena in her beautiful dress and Mehdi in his well tailored tux.  Just look at them!  What a handsome couple!

Lindsay and Todd | San Francisco City Hall, San Francisco, Calif

If you don’t remember this wonderful, great looking couple, then you have to first check out their fun engagement session we did in Walnut Creek.

Lindsay and Todd had a  very small wedding ceremony at the beautiful San Francisco City Hall with 15 or so of their closest friends and family members.  The ceremony was held at the 2nd floor of the city hall.  The family was so loving that I felt like I was a part of the family!  That’s the part that I love about doing what I do.  I get to be a part of my client’s family for one day.  Be a part to experience their joy and their love.  How wonderful is that feeling?

Sarah - Lindsay is my cousin so I may be biased, but these photos are SO beautiful. A gorgeous couple, a wonderful family, and obviously a very talented photographer!

Little Cory and Dylan

Mommy was worried that little Dylan was going to be the more difficult one to get smiles from.  Haha.  I love these challenges.  Look Mommy!  Look at both Cory and Dylan.  They are smiling ear to ear.
